According to a press release from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at approximately 11:19 p.m., Houston County Sheriff Deputy Larenzo Simpson made a traffic stop on Highway 19 South of Crockett. During this stop, Simpson was assisted by Crockett Police Department Officer Lonnie Lum.
The officers reported that upon contact with the driver of the car, a strong odor of marijuana was allegedly coming from inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and resulted in the discovery of approximately 35 pounds of marijuana, approximately 100 blue and yellow pills believed to be Ecstasy, and approximately 136 grams of Cocaine.
The vehicle was occupied by three black males, Fredrick Monroe, 26, of Mount Vernon, Texas; Destric Boyd, 35, of Dangerfield, Texas; and Raymond Wallace, 36, of Dangerfield, Texas. All three were arrested and taken to the Houston County Jail, where they were booked in on charges of manufacturing/delivery of marijuana—a 2nd degree felony with bond set at $30,000, one 1st degree Felony of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance with bond set at $40,000, and one 2nddegree felony of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance with bond set at $30,000.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that during the arrest, the officers also seized $1005.23 in cash and a 2005 Lincoln Navigator.
