Home Crime & Punishment 16 Grams of Meth Discovered in Palestine Traffic Stop

According to Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor, at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013, Deputy Johnny Gordon pulled over a 2004 red pick-up truck located on 287 south near ACR 137 for a traffic violation.

After approaching the vehicle, Deputy Gordon discovered two men in the vehicle.

“During the search of the vehicle, officials found 16 grams of methamphetamine along with under two ounces of marijuana and several different kinds of pills,” Sheriff Taylor said.

This resulted in the arrest of both Helario Escamilla Gonzalez of Palestine, born February 29, 1972, for the manufacture and delivery of controlled substance; and Raul Hernandez Gomez, born July 4, 1973, and charged with dangerous drugs and manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.

Both men are currently being held in the Anderson County Jail on bond for multiple charges.
