Three Crockett men have been arrested for an Aggravated Kidnapping in Palestine on Saturday, July 27, 2013.
According to a press release, shortly before 1 a.m. on Saturday, officers with the Palestine Police Department responded to a possible kidnapping, after the department received a 9-1-1 call in which a female alleged that a man had been taken at gunpoint and was being held in a truck against his will. The caller gave a description of the individuals who had kidnapped the man and information on the truck the group was traveling in.
Officers with the Palestine Police Department were able to locate the truck on Loop 256 near Spring St. After an investigation, police arrested three men, identified as Jerry Dyches, 59, Scott Kindle, 40 and Danny Smith, 36, all of Crockett, Texas.
In the initial police report, the victim relayed that he went to a home located off FM 320 in Anderson County. He said that when he arrived the three men came from behind a house and assaulted him. The victim claimed that he was hit with a metal baseball bat, metal flashlights and was threatened with a gun. He also alleged that he was forced at gunpoint into a truck with the men and driven away from the scene.
Although the victim’s injuries were reportedly “not life threatening,” he was transported to
Palestine Regional Medical Center for treatment.
All three men arrested were taken to the Anderson County Jail and booked in on charges of Aggravated Kidnapping, which is a first degree felony. If convicted, these men could face a sentence of 5 to 99 or life in prison and up to a $10,000 dine.
Kindle was also charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, which is a Second Degree Felony. This charge carries a sentence of 2 to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
