Two Crockett men have been arrested for the armed robberies of two local convenient stores.
According to a press release from the Crockett Police Department, through the investigation of the robbery of the Hill Top Store that occurred on Jan. 29, 2014, the Crockett PD arrested KaDarius Smoot, 17, and Keon Leonard, 17, both of Crockett on two counts of Aggravated Robbery.
These young men have been charged with the Aggravated Robbery of the EZ Stop Store, located on West Goliad in Crockett, that occurred on Jan. 8, 2014, and the Aggravated Robbery of the Hill Top Store located on North Fourth Street in Crockett. Aggravated Robbery is a First Degree Felony. If convicted, these men could receive sentences of 5 to 99 or Life in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and up to a $10,000 fine.
Smoot was also charged with the Class A Misdemeanor of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 3.
In a statement by Crockett Police Chief Buddy Cross, “We are glad to get these two dangerous suspects off the streets of our city. I am also proud of the diligent work that our officers and detectives put forth into solving these cases.” Chief Cross added, “I would also like to thank all of the citizens for the information that they provided which greatly assisted our department in this investigation.
